PROVIDING THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN WEST WITH REGIONAL COVID-19 DATA AND INFORMATION FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PLANNING AND RESPONSE

UPDATE 12/18/2023: The Rocky Mountain COVID Data surveillance dashboard, variants page, blog, and other parts of the website were updated for the last time on Monday, December 18, 2023. Please see our final blog post for information on other resources to help you stay knowledgeable.

The public health emergency may have ended, but your knowledge doesn’t have to. Let us be your go-to resource for data and information that can help you optimize COVID-19 planning and response in your state or jurisdiction.

WHO ARE WE?

The Rocky Mountain COVID Data project was born from the Colorado COVID-19 Modeling Group, a team of researchers from the Colorado School of Public Health, based out of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, as well as the University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University. We are equipped with a broad base of scientific expertise including epidemiologists, statistical modelers, social scientists, economists, and health policy experts.

WHAT IS OUR MISSION AND VISION?

The Rocky Mountain COVID Data project mission is to be the go-to resource for regional COVID-19 data in the Rocky Mountain West (RMW), comprising Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. With the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency in the United States in May 2023, many data feeds and reporting protocols changed, but questions still remain.

We provide time-series surveillance data to characterize the past and current state of COVID-19 not only at the state level, but also at the level of sub-state regions that we created to balance interpretability with spatial resolution to help state, local, and tribal health leaders develop situational awareness on the landscape of COVID-19 in their jurisdictions.

Our vision is to empower stakeholders, like health departments and policymakers, to strategically plan for and proactively make decisions surrounding SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 as we settle into a longer-term relationship with the virus and the disease it causes. We are dedicated to providing accurate and timely data to disseminate key information and protect communities in the Rocky Mountain West region in the months and seasons to come.
